The Top 4 Ad Campaign Mistakes to Avoid
Do You Need a Digital Foundation for an Ad Campaign?
Over the years, we’ve seen numerous clients with zero digital presence come to us raring to get ad campaigns running. We say the same thing every time – your business needs a solid digital foundation to start!
In our last Coffee Talk Podcast, Suzanne and Ashley talked about steps you need to take before launching your next campaign. You’ll want to check out these mistakes before even thinking about investing in paid advertising.
1. Not optimizing your website for users
If you want your users to stay on the site and not leave, optimize it for their needs! That means ensuring that everything works smoothly from beginning to end with easy navigation so people can easily find what they’re looking for without any hassle or frustration!
2. Having little to no social proof
The power of social proof is real! If you have no testimonials and minimal reviews, this is an automatic red flag. In our increasingly online world, customers are more skeptical and need that extra assurance that you’re offering an authentic product or quality service. This means they are far less inclined to purchase or engage in services from businesses with low levels of online presence or none at all.
3. Having a s#!tty website
We hate to be the one to break it to you but if your website sucks, you’re wasting time and money spent on ad campaigns and SEO! A common assumption is that putting effort into these activities will automatically increase traffic, but they may actually decrease it if your website is not set up right. People are quick to jump off if anything obstructs their process so ultimately, It doesn’t matter if you have the best product – you need a website that makes the purchase and experience easy.
4. Setting and forgetting
This is not a one-and-done effort. You need constant maintenance and attention in order for your website to be successful! Why? Well, what works today is not going to work tomorrow or next month. This is the tough reality of running any business in these web-forward days, but maintaining will get you improved results in your digital marketing efforts.
So what can you do to avoid these mistakes?
Bump up the social proof
Encourage your customers to leave a review or request testimonials. Investing efforts in having a solid digital foundation is also incredibly important. Don’t provide potential customers with a reason to have doubt about your product or service.
Ensure your website is fully accessible
Make it easy for our customers to make that purchase or request a meeting! Make sure all needed information is presented well and informed in an order that makes sense. Ensure load times are fast to avoid bounces. You’ll also want to ensure that your website is optimized for both mobile and desktop.

You need to constantly go back to evaluate how your customers are using and engaging with your website and make those changes to better fit them. This means reviewing heatmaps, seeing where your customers are bouncing and what leads them off their customer journey.
