Conservation Sudbury
The Challenge
Conservation Sudbury needed a modern, user-friendly website that would clearly communicate its programs, services, and resources to residents, partners, and stakeholders across the Greater Sudbury region. The previous site was difficult to navigate, the content was disorganized, and key tools such as permit resources, flood status updates, and educational program details were not easily accessible. The goal was to create an accessible, bilingual platform that would support Conservation Sudbury’s regulatory, educational, and conservation initiatives. This included highlighting the Lake Laurentian Conservation Area, simplifying property inquiry and mapping tools, and showcasing environmental programming and watershed data in a more engaging and interactive format.
Our Approach
- A refreshed site architecture that reorganized content under intuitive categories
- Custom development of an easy-to-navigate interface with seamless English and French language support
- Integration of tools and resources, such as permit documentation, flood status updates, and the water data portal
- Design of engaging landing pages for Lake Laurentian Conservation Area, seasonal programming, and Camp Bitobig
- Implementation of a responsive design to ensure the site performs well across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices
- On-site training for Conservation Sudbury staff to support future content updates and maintenance
Result / Impact
- A fully redesigned and redeveloped website that reflects the professionalism and scope of Conservation Sudbury’s work
- Enhanced user experience through improved mobile functionality, bilingual support, and simplified access to technical documents and regulatory tools
- Stronger promotion of community programs, events, and educational opportunities
- Increased internal capacity to manage the site through WordPress CMS training
The Result
The new Conservation Sudbury website supports the agency’s mandate by making important information accessible, engaging, and actionable for a wide audience. It helps residents navigate flood updates and conservation regulations, invites schools and families to explore educational programming, and strengthens public’s connection to the region’s conservation lands. For Shout Media, the project demonstrates how thoughtful design and development can support public sector goals, improve service delivery, and deepen engagement with the natural environment.
